the Podcast Experience

From the first idea to the final recording, students become the creators of their very own podcast.

What’s Involved

During Z & G Podcast Lab, students work in small groups to brainstorm ideas, develop their own podcast concept and bring it to life in a real recording environment. With microphones, headphones and a production pack in hand, they get to experience what it’s like to work together as a podcast team.

Throughout the experience, students will:

  • Dream up their own ideas – Choose topics, explore different segment formats and develop a podcast concept as a team.

  • Get creative with sound – Listen to theme music and sound effects, choosing audio to help bring their ideas to life.

  • Plan their episode – Organise their segments, prepare a fun pretend advertisement and learn how to connect their ideas into a flowing episode.

  • Step behind the microphone – Take their seats in the recording setup and record their very own group podcast, with guidance and support along the way.

  • Create their podcast identity – Personalise a podcast logo and come up with a description for the episode they’ve created.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the incursion, students will have:

  • Increased confidence in speaking and presenting.

  • Practical understanding of the podcasting process from start to finish.

  • Enhanced teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

  • A finished podcast episode they can share with the school community.

More than just a chance to speak into a microphone, Podcast Lab encourages students to collaborate, communicate, think creatively and build confidence in sharing their ideas.

Their ideas. Their voices. Their podcast.
